叶蕊琪, Rachel Yap, 5J

This is my buddy. Song Xin Ke, from Shangai Yangjing-Juyuan Experimental School. She was a really friendly person and was also a great help to me during the Chinese lessons. Whenever I have problems with words that I don't know how to read, I just have to open my mouth and ask her, and the answer would be most polite. During English lessons, she would also ask me questions whenever she had problems. I really treasure the joyous moments I had with her during the short period of time with her. Although we are now in different countries, we still keep in contact with email. On our last day in Shanghai, we had a farewell ceremony. They performed fabulous dances, songs, they also presented their school's storyteller, who won the international story telling competition. Not only was her face filled with expression, even her words were filled with expression! The performance was so touching that I almost cried! Talking about the tours, the three places I favour most are-虎丘(Tiger Hill), 中山陵(Mausoleum Of Sun Yat-Sen) and last but not least, 东方明珠塔(“Oriental Pearl” TV Tower).Tiger Hill got it’s name because its shape looks just like a tiger. There is a house in front – the two round windows represent the eyes of the tiger while the doorway represents the mouth. As we walk to the end, we can see a tower which is slightly slanted representing the tiger’s tail.To get to the Mausoleum Of Sun Yat-Sen, we had to climb 392 stairs to get to the top. Although it was tiring, it was all worth while, as we got to see a really magnificent view from the top.The ‘Oriental Pearl” TV Tower is fabulous. If you go up the tower at night, you can see the really beautiful night view. I really enjoyed looking down at the night views from such a high level. Well, time really flies when you are enjoying yourself. The short 12 days ended, though I was sad to leave, I returned to Singapore with a lot more knowledge about the history of China. With that, I would like to thank all the teachers for making this trip possible.
